Drew Wiles, or “Wiley,” graduated in 2008 from Tulane University with a B.S. in cell and molecular biology, and worked as a genetic medicine research scientist for over 5 years. During this time, he and his family founded Paradise Springs Winery in Clifton, Virginia. In 2014, he established the lab and quality control program at Beltway Brewing Company in Sterling, Virginia, where he went on to serve as production manager. He is a graduate of the MBAA ‘Brewery Engineering and Utilities Course’ as well as the Alltech Brewing & Distilling Academy ‘Brewhouse Operations Course’.
After graduating with a BSBA in Management from Shippensburg University in 2008, Jon began his career working for a home healthcare company. At this company he would eventually go on to manage company-wide operations as well as develop and manage new business units. As a home-brewer and craft beer enthusiast, he decided to take his background and knowledge in operations to the craft beer industry. He began working for Beltway Brewing Company in late 2013 and took on the much broader role of Director of Operations soon after. After successfully managing the day-to-day operations of a growing production brewery, he decided to take that experience and apply it to his own production brewery.
Mike is a James Madison University graduate and Virginia CPA. After graduating from JMU he began his career in public accounting with a focus in corporate taxation. In 2013 he left the public sector to take a position as Controller for an IT company in Alexandria. Mike managed all financial aspects of the business as a member of the company’s executive leadership team. In early 2016 Mike played an integral role in his company’s acquisition. Following the sale he decided to explore his passion for beer and homebrewing.
After working for a few years at a lodge on a lake in Maine, Alex moved back to Virginia where he grew up. In 2015 he started with Badwolf Brewing in Manassas, which then became Tucked Away Brewing in 2018. He joined Solace in 2019 and has been cranking out our beer ever since!
Sam is a DMV native having grown up in Woodbridge, VA and residing in D.C. for the past 16 years. After receiving too many degrees, he worked in environmental policy for 8 years before starting his brewing career. He has brewed at several local breweries with his last stops being at Victory Brewing and Port City Brewing before taking the lead brewer position at Solace Outpost. He is a graduate of the Siebel Advanced Brewing Theory program and is currently a co-chair of the Technical Brewing committee for the Mid-Atlantic chapter of the Master Brewers Association of the Americas. When not at work he can be found biking, hanging with his dogs, and torturing himself by learning various stringed instruments.
Mike was born and raised in Northern Virginia, and graduated from Old Dominion University with a bachelors degree in Industrial Technology. After finding his love in craft beer, it lead him to accept a job with Iron Heart Canning Company as a Lead Canning Operator, canning craft beer and cider from DC, Northern Virginia, and West Virginia. After some time there, he realized that one of his favorite breweries in NoVA was in need of a packaging lead themselves! He accepted the position at Solace, and found his new home. As the third full-time Mike in the building, he has been given the nickname “Charlie”!
